Antabuse (disulfiram) is used to treat alcoholism. If the medication has been taken and alcohol is consumed, the patient quickly begins to feel very bad about 10 minutes later. This effect can last 30 minutes to several hours. Both the duration and severity of effects are directly correlated to the amount of alcohol consumed. Antabuse causes the body to produce a number of effects that mimic hangover, including:

• Flushing of skin
• Throbbing in the head and neck
• Nausea and vomiting
• Sweating and thirst
• Blurred vision
• Vertigo
• Confusion
• Heart palpitations
• Labored breathing
• Rapid heartbeat
• Low blood pressure
• Fainting
